December is upon us, and that can only mean one thing – it’s party season. From family gatherings to office parties, to festive nights out with the girls, it’s time to plan those party outfits.

Once you’ve found the perfect dress and moved onto the accessories, don’t forget to think about your legwear. Not just because it’s cold out, but because, like a belt or statement necklace, the right pair of tights or hold ups can add that perfect finishing touch.

In fact, they can even totally transform a look. If you have to head straight from the office to the Christmas party, a quick change of hosiery and heels could be all it takes to get ready come 5pm!

To help you style together the fanciest of evening ensembles, I’ve curated a selection of the most party-perfect hosiery here at Mayfair Stockings.

Glitz and Sparkle

Nothing says party time quite like a bit of glitter! Metallics are always on-trend, and match perfectly when you’re wearing other gold or silver accents. They’re also the easiest way to ‘dress up’ an outfit for evening time. Either shimmer and shine in an all-over sparkle knit, or go more subtle with a diamanté ankle detail.

A Splash of Colour

Brighten up a little black dress with vibrantly-coloured hosiery, and make your legs the centrepiece of your look. How about a festive red? Or something to coordinate with your clutch? If you’d prefer a more subtle touch of colour, some simple and classic hosiery with a contrast backseam could be just the thing.

Oh, and since colourful hosiery tends to be opaque, it will keep you nice and warm en route to the party too!

Stand-Out Prints

Hosiery is the perfect way to have fun and experiment with bolder prints, without having to go full-on. That being said, if you want to artfully clash your prints together, go for it! There are practically endless options here to suit your tastes. Will it be a chic and pretty floral, or something altogether more striking like the Wolford Anita bandage tights?

Flirty Fishnet

Fishnet is one of those hosiery styles that’s definitely got more of a night-out vibe than a daywear one. And because it’s also got a hint of boudoir about it, it’s a great way to boost your confidence and feel your sexiest on the dancefloor. Plus, as the products below will prove, fishnet hosiery can be somuch more interesting than a basic diamond criss-cross.

Luxurious Lace

Still undecided? When in doubt, wear lace – that’s my fashion mantra! It’s a beautiful fabric that lends a touch of elegance and luxury to any outfit, making it especially perfect for those sumptuous soirée dos. The Wolford Lea tights below are a particularly decadent choice, with their lustrous raschel lace (in festive, fiery red no less).

These are my top 20 recommendations for party wear, but there are plenty more fabulous designs here. What’s your go-to hosiery style when it comes to nights out or special events?

You can find all of our Christmas party season tights, hold ups, stockings, and lingerie in The Christmas Collection.
